Happy Holidays To All!

holidaytreeI just wanted to take a quick moment to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

This is my very first Christmas in sunny Florida. It’s unique to spend the holiday where it’s warm and sunny, but that’s certainly not a bad thing. Most wonderful of all, I get to spend Christmas with some of the people I care most about. I generally spend the holiday up in Michigan, but things just didn’t work out this year.

I hope you’re all spending time with those you love. After all, that’s really what the holiday season is all about.

Appreciate all the support you readers have given. I plan to continue producing high-quality content for many years to come. In the meanwhile, I’ve been reflecting on what a great year 2014 has been. It’s been a watershed year in many respects – I’m ending the year engaged, in a new career, happy, healthy, and on track for financial independence by 40 years old. Can’t really ask for much more.

Please continue to stop by. I’ll be discussing a recent stock purchase as well as some stocks on my watch list before the year ends.

I also have some great ideas for new content once 2015 is underway. Stick around!

Happy Holidays! Stay safe and have fun!

Thanks for reading.

  2. Merry Christmas to you DM!

You’ve had one hell of a year and I’m looking forward to seeing what 2015 brings for you.

    Have a good one!

  3. Merry Christmas Jason!. Hope we all take the best decisions and keep the path we are following. Have you already decided your financial objectives for 2015? Maybe reaching 10.000$ of pasive income? Maybe posting 100+ articles? (wait, you must already be publishing that much…)

We keep getting good news in regard to dividend increases. I just got 3 for my portfolio and another one almost coming.

  4. Hi Jason,
Thank you for the many inspiring articles. I discovered your blog early in 2014 and I must admit it gave me a complete new view on investing and what amazing possibilities it offers to build wealth. Your posts triggered my turnaround from more or less a gambler to a dividend growth investor. It’s a great new insight for me. I’m confident we will all prosper in the years to come. 🙂
I wish you and Claudia all the best for 2015.

  5. DM,

Merry Christmas to you! Thanks for all that you continue to do over here. Your teaching skills are very unique, thorough, and most importantly life changing for those who embrace them. I will be following your inspirational progress for many years to come!

  6. Merry Christmas and thank you for the great posts! Thanks to you as well as some other blogs, I’ve created a nice DGI portfolio. Though you had a somewhat rough time with family, it seems you grew closer with Claudia and I believe are better for it. Take care.

  7. Jason – My first year on your site, but I have invested since 2002 in dividend focused portfolio and index after I failed in growth stock picks. Stay motivated. My current dividend income annually now 20k, overweighted though in energy. I don’t believe there really is no other way to invest other than index funds or value dividend stocks. I hope your future is bright and you achieve all you wish to achieve in life. I admire your writing skills. squirrel

  8. Huw,

Thanks so much. You’ve had a fantastic year over there as well. You’ve got plenty of snowball rolling ahead of you, and it only gets easier! 🙂

    Merry Christmas!!

    Best wishes.

  9. Jose,

    Merry Christmas to you to!

Yeah, I wish I could hit $10,000 in dividend income in 2015, but that would be a $4,000+ jump in one year. Obviously impossible for me, but the good news is that I’m track for FI by 40. 🙂

Congrats on the dividend increases. The great news about being invested in so many companies is that we receive that many pay raises every year. I’m looking forward to at least 51 “pay raises” next year!

    Cheers.

  10. Tom,

Glad AMNF has worked out for you so far. It definitely flies under the radar, but I’m extremely confident in the company. The only reason I haven’t doubled down yet is because of its small size. Great numbers, though.

Glad to be a fellow shareholder and a fellow former Michigander!

    Happy Holidays.

    Take care.

  11. Jos,

I’m happy to hear that. I aim to inspire. This lifestyle offers so many positive benefits. We really have the power to change our lives for the better.

Wishing you and yours a very prosperous 2015 as well. We’ll get to where we want to be. 🙂

    Cheers!

  12. MDP,

Thanks so much. I’m honored and blessed to be in this position where I have this platform and opportunity to teach others. I have a ton of passion for this stuff, as I see the benefits firsthand. I’m not selling anything, but I do believe with all my heart that financial independence can change one’s life for the better, and it’s attainable for just about anyone willing to put in the work necessary to achieve it. 🙂

Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas. Keep up the great work over there. You’re going to have a killer 2015 after staying so busy this year!

    Best regards.

  13. Tales,

Thanks, bud. Appreciate all the support. I’m incredibly lucky to have such a great readership!

Merry Christmas to you and yours. Looking forward to a wonderful 2015…for everyone.

    Cheers!

  14. HMB,

That’s fantastic. Glad you’ve created your own portfolio and started down your own journey. The future you will be very thankful for this. 🙂

Yeah, it was a crazy year. And there was much more that wasn’t even discussed here (it’s outside the scope of the blog). But things worked out pretty great in the end. I’m lucky.

I’m confident we’ll all have a great 2015. I’m super excited for it.

    Merry Christmas!

    Best wishes.

  15. squirrel,

That’s awesome. $20k in dividend income! I’ve still got a few years yet before I’m hitting that kind of number. Must feel really great to see the dividends roll in! 🙂

Appreciate the kind words and support. I hope you stick around for a while. I’ve got some pretty good ideas for new content for 2015. I’m excited to get things rolling.

Enjoy your success. You obviously worked hard for it.

    Happy Holidays!!

    Best regards.

  16. Mr Matra,

I am spending Christmas in Florida this year too. Sure beats the Massachusetts weather !
I hope you, Claudia, and Diego had a great day.

  17. Merry Xmas Jason. Been following your blog for a little over a year, and have been inspired. Always looking for the next quality/thought provoking article.

All the best to you and your fam.

  18. Jason,

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Thank you for your inspiration and research, I look forward to reading more good information in the coming year. I do have a question today, I was thinking about my goals for the year and the future and starting thinking about yours. You make your short term goals very clear, but what about 30 or 40 years from now? What is your long goal for total savings? Will you reduce some of your equity holdings for less volatile secure holdings? If you have covered this and I missed it, then please point me to it.
As always, thanks for your hard work and I wish you and your family the best in 2015.

    Jim

  19. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and Claudia! All the best! I can’t wait to read about your new ideas in 2015. Every day is an adventure. Keep it up!

  20. Jason,

congratulations for a very successful year! There truly is not much more to ask for.
The greatest thing about it is that you actually worked your way there instead of getting lucky.
    Your success is well deserved!
    Happy holidays

  21. Happy Holidays Jason! Hopefully your enjoying yourself. Best of luck throughout 2015

    Mr. Captain Cash

  22. Roger H,

Nice! Much nicer weather, indeed. Though, not as festive. It’s a nice trade-off, however. 🙂

What part of Florida? Hope you’re enjoying your stay down here.

    Happy Holidays!

    Best regards.

  23. jm,

Thanks so much. Really appreciate the readership. I’m hoping to put together some of my best content yet in 2015. I feel more energized than ever. 🙂

    Enjoy the holiday break!

    Cheers.

  24. NMW,

You as well. Merry Christmas and I hope your New Year is excellent. I’m looking forward to seeing what 2015 has in store for all of us. I’m excited and optimistic. 🙂

    Thanks for dropping by!

    Cheers.

  25. Jim,

Thanks so much. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours as well! 🙂

As far as long-term goals, the furthest out I’ve gone is 2022. That’s when I turn 40, and so I have my dividend income, expense, and health goals defined pretty well. I haven’t really set any goals for 30 or 40 years out only because I don’t know what options will be available to me. For instance, I’m not sure what interest rates will be, so it’s difficult for me to forecast my desire to trade in equity for fixed-income. I’ve discussed before my almost 100% exposure to stocks and why, but I’m certainly not opposed to eventually having some bonds in the portfolio. However, rates would have to be much higher than they are now. I will note that I don’t mind the volatility in stocks. Just doesn’t bother me. And that’s regardless of whether I’m accumulating assets or not. If I wake up and see my brokerage account down by 3% or whatever, it just doesn’t really bother me. So I think that, in the end, it’s quite possible that I maintain a portfolio almost exclusively in stocks. This is something that one has to figure out for themselves, however, as most people mind volatility quite a bit more than I do.

    I hope that helps! 🙂

    Best wishes.

  26. Todd,

Every day is an adventure, indeed. And an opportunity. I’m looking forward to 365 more of them in 2015. 🙂

Appreciate the support. I wish you and yours a very wonderful holiday season and Happy New Year!

    Best regards.

  27. Stef,

Thank you so much. I definitely worked very hard for everything I have. There were some sacrifices made along the way, but every sacrifice was calculated and quantified. However, I also got lucky as well. But luck has a way of finding those that work hard. 🙂

2015 is just around the corner. A whole new year of opportunities. I’m sure you’re going to do great.

Appreciate the support. I hope you’re having a wonderful holiday season over there!

    Best wishes.

  28. Mrs. FW,

Appreciate the support. I hope you and Mr. FW had a very Merry Christmas!

Looking forward to what you guys have planned for 2015 as well. Very excited to see you guys drawing closer to your homestead dream. Not long now. 🙂

    Cheers!

  29. Syed,

    Same! Happy Holidays. 🙂

Appreciate the support. Without a great readership, my content would be worthless. Everyone who stops by makes the blog what it is.

I’m excited for what 2015 has in store. I think it’s going to be the best year yet for many of us. Let’s make it a great year!

    Take care.

  30. MCC,

Thanks so much. I’m actually really sick right now, but I’m making the best of it. The good news is that this will probably be behind me by the time 2015 rolls around, so I’ll be able to get the year started off right!

Hope you and yours are having fun and able to spend time with one another. That’s what it’s all about. 🙂

    Happy Holidays!

    Best regards.

  31. Zambian Lady,

Always trade-offs. A sunny and warm Christmas is very nice, but it’s also not particularly festive. However, I’ll take a warm Christmas if it means I get to avoid three or four more months of cold and snow. 🙂

Thanks for dropping by. Hope you’re having a great holiday season over there!

    Best regards.
