Happy Holidays!

December 24, 2012 by Dividend Mantra Team 22 Comments

I’m currently spending time in Michigan with my whole family around me. It’s wonderful to have everyone I care about around me. It truly reminds me why I’m so actively and aggressively pursuing financial independence. Time is everything to me, and it’s great to spend it down with loved ones. I took an entire week off work to spend the holidays with friends and family, and the timing couldn’t be more perfect! That creeping, tiring feeling in the back of my mind was inching closer and closer to the surface: I was getting burned out!

I hope all of my readers make the most of this time of year. It’s a great time to reflect and realize what’s most important in life.

Once again, thank you to all who support Dividend Mantra. This site would be nothing without you readers and supporters. I’ll be back to regular posting by the end of the week.

Merry Christmas to all and have a wonderful holiday!

Thanks for reading.

I wish I could be spending time with my family this Christmas but unfortunately work calls. This is exactly why I’m striving to reach FI as early as possible.

I’m glad that you decided to come back from your mid-year hiatus. Your blog was one of the main inspirations for me to start mine. I just hope that I can help and reach as many people as you have. Thanks for blogging and I’ll be looking forward to your next posts.

    Pursuit,

Thanks for the kind words. I’m really happy that my blog inspires others, and I’m glad to see your blog has taken off so well.

I’m sorry you can’t be with your family at Christmas. I hope that you are able to reach FI in the next few years so that you can spend the rest of your days with the people you care about. That’s really what it’s all about!

    Best wishes.

    Hi DM,

Happy holidays to you, all the best to your family.

Your blog is always a pleasure to read. I came to think of it as a “chicken soup for the soul”, something many investors need to keep sane during market swings, a long term strategy to follow and a few encouraging words on a regular basis. Thank you for doing what you are doing. I only wish you keep at it.

Just to stay with the family topic: what does your family think of the path you’ve chosen? It must be a big change from what they saw just a few short years ago. If they are supportive – in what ways do they show it?

    Yours truly,
    AverageCFA

I’m glad you’re having a great Christmas DM. You deserve it. I really enjoy your site. It’s one of my favorites outside of SA.

I think you have a gift for writing about subjects that inspire you. You should look into motivational speaking once you hit FI. I think you’d do well at it.

Anyway, have a great time off and get those energy stores replenished!

    AverageCFA,

Thanks so much for that. I’m honored to have you say such kind things. I certainly hope I can keep at it as well!

My family is really happy for me and supports what I’m doing 100%. To be honest, one of my biggest inspirations for trying to reach financial independence at a young age is to spend more time with my family. I stay so busy with work right now, and living in a different state doesn’t help matters. Having financial flexibility would allow me to see them much more often.

I hope you’re having a great holiday season!

    Best regards.

It does feel good to rest and replenish the mind and body. I was definitely burned out.

    DM
Enjoy your family during your well deserved time off. I find breaks like these allow one recharge one’s batteries. I often come back from a break with a fresh new perspective on something old.
